CT scanning, also
known as CAT scanning, is a technique that uses a very thin X-ray beam that is
rotated around the patient while the amount of X-ray passing through the patient
is recorded and a very high resolution picture of a section of the body can be
constructed.
CT scanning is
used to diagnose lung disease, problems with brain such as stroke, liver
disease, kidney disease and most tumors.
CT scanning is
very good at imaging bone but is quite poor with muscle and the soft tissues of
the body.
